As an infant, Kamehameha the Great, son of high chief Keoua, was named Pai'ea, a type of hard-shelled crab. This crab lives and runs along the rocky shore with the ‘a‘ama, withstanding even the most dangerous of surf. The Pai'ea crab while not as active as the ‘a’ama relies on it's great strength and camouflage skills as well as it's extremely hard shell for protection. Pai'ea is also a term used for a fierce warrior or great athlete able to overcome great adversity.Our Nā Mākua long sleeve tees feature our new Paiea design printed on the front and back of the tee and printing on both sleeves.
