Pele and Poliahu, the legend continues... After 6 years of Merrie Monarch posters, Nelson is continuing his Pele legend series with this new image of Pele and Poliahu. The opposing forces of fire and ice personifies the rivalry between the fire goddess Pele and Poliahu, the snow goddess of Mauna Kea. To this day the rivalry still persists with Poliahu, occasionally invading Pele's domain by casting snow upon the summit of Mauna Loa.
